The Cultural Centre of Dora is housed at the former Primary School of Dora, which had operated for approximately a century before its operation was suspended in 1996 due to the decline in the number of pupils. It is a neoclassical building dated back to the beginning of the previous century featuring three distinctive columns. After the operation of the Primary School was suspended due to the pupils of Dora having been transferred to the Regional Primary School of Pachna, the Community Council of Dora decided to convert the building into a Cultural Centre. The works for the conversion of the building and the creation of the Cultural Centre began in 2014 and were divided in three stages, while the total cost of the project was about 200 000 Euros, an amount which was covered by the budget of the Community Council, the District Administration of Limassol, and the Republic of Cyprus. The cultural centre was created in a very beautiful building located at one of the best areas of the village. It consists of outdoor event areas, a multi-usage hall, a projection and photo exhibition area, while the “House of the Shepherd” Museum can also be found in the same building. It is a unique museum displaying original objects used by our ancestors while undertaking their pastoral tasks over the previous century. It constitutes the pride of both the community of Dora and the area of Krasochoria in general. The inauguration ceremony was held by the President of the Parliament, Mr DemetrisSyllouris.
